THE BEAUTIFUL PALAZZO SERIMAN FOR SALE IN THE HEART OF VENICE

The palazzo (2,856 sqm – 30,741 sqft) is laid over six floors. The piano nobile and the second floor present the classic Venetian tripartite plan, with a central hall (known as portego) on either side of which are located, as in the past, large rooms (lounges and bedrooms at the owner's discretion) decorated with fine 18th-century stucco, marble portals and period briar doors with moldings. The main entrance is on Salizada Seriman but the palazzo has two secondary side entrances and a water gate on Rio dei Gozzi.

Floors are Istrian stone and Verona's red marble on the ground floor, while the upper floors have Venetian floors and wooden parquet. The terrace (55 sqm – 592 sqft) offers a unique and unparalleled view of the rooftops of Venice and the city's picturesque canals.

At the back of the palace is a large walled garden (781 sqm - 8,403 sqft) with direct access from the Rio dei Gesuiti.

The palace dates back to "a few years before 1466", built by architect Pietro Como on commission by the Dolce family. It then passed into the hands of the Gozzi and Contarini families and from there to the Seriman, a family of Armenian ancestry that arrived in Venice in the late 17th century and "earned" nobility by providing huge economic assistance to the Venetian Republic against the Ottomans (amounting to around 72,000 ducats).

The imposing building is a typical transitional palazzo combining the late Venetian Gothic style with the more elegant Renaissant features. Three-lobed pointed arches and twisted columns on the façades are contrasted by the orderly distribution of openings, classical capitals, and typical 16th-century windows on the mezzanine. The structure allows us to assume that the palazzo must have originally had a C-shaped plan with a courtyard and staircase instead of the present look. The back garden was created in the area where Palazzo Venier stood (demolished in the 19th century).

The Santa Lucia train station is about 1.7 km from the palazzo, making it easy to reach the mainland by train. Otherwise, the palazzo has a reserved berth and can be reached directly from the water.
